Randy Geering

Randall Geering was appointed to a 3-year term as Special Assistant to Finance and Business for the Commonwealth Campuses at Penn State in November 2018. As the Special Assistant to Finance and Business, Randy is the liaison between the Finance and Business leadership team and the Directors of Business Services for the commonwealth campuses. This a critical role in communicating necessary Finance and Business strategic initiatives to the Directors of Business Services for the 19 commonwealth campuses. This appointment runs concurrently with his role as the Director of Business Services for Behrend Campus.

Randy first joined Penn State in October of 1998 in the role of Assistant Manager for Housing and Food Services at the Berks Campus of Penn State in Reading, Pennsylvania. In 2001 Randy was promoted to the Manager for Housing and Food Services at Penn State Behrend in Erie, Pennsylvania. In 2004 the position was elevated to Director. As the Director of the department, Randy was involved in the renovation of three traditional residence halls, construction of Senat Residence Hall and renovation of Dobbins Hall, Behrend’s all you care to eat facility. He was also involved with campus strategic planning, the 60th-anniversary committee and many other campus committees driving the direction of the college.

In 2010 Randy was appointed the Director of Business Service for Behrend. In this role, he oversees all business functions of the campus and campus operations, which include the Maintenance Department, the Parking Office, Telecommunications, Mail Services and the Copy Center. He oversees campus Emergency Management, Environmental Health and Safety, Risk Management and Compliance issues. Randy also oversees all renovations and construction of new facilities.  

Randy has been active in several professional and civic organizations, including NACUFS, the National Association of College and University Food Services, KAPPA, the Keystone chapter of APPA, the Association for Physical Plant Administrators, and Kiwanis, an international organization dedicated to improving the world one child one community at a time, serving recently as president of his local club.

Randy graduated from Penn State in 1988 with a degree in Hotel Restaurant and Institutional Management.
