Holly L. Gumke

Holly Gumke began her career at Penn State in 1988 as the Director of Business Services at Penn State York. In addition to her duties at Penn State York, in 2010 she also began serving as the Special Assistant for Commonwealth Campuses, representing the campuses away from University Park on the staff of the Senior Vice President for Finance and Business. As the Director of Business Services at Penn State York she is responsible for business operations including, maintenance and facilities, human resources, safety and security, auxiliary services, purchasing, and oversight of the Pullo Center, a 1,016-seat performing arts center.

In addition to her professional work at Penn State, Holly has served on a variety of community boards and committees in the York area and was also an elected official, serving Spring Garden Township, as both Commissioner and then as President Commissioner. While at Spring Garden Township, she served as Recreation Board Liaison, Police Contract Negotiations Team Member, Zoning and Codes Liaison, and was a member of the Joint Fire Services Committee, where she was named 2007 – 2008 York County Chamber of Commerce Elected Official of the Year. Holly has been a member of the York County Economic Development Corporation Board, and the York Little Theatre (YLT) Board of Directors, and was named as a 2001 YLT Volunteer of the Year. At York Little Theatre, she served on the YLT Personnel Committee, and was a Box Office and Production volunteer. Holly is a graduate of Leadership York, and later served as a Leadership York (LY) Board Member. She has also served on the LY Executive Committee and is a former Leadership York Board President. Holly served on the York County Children and Youth Services Board, and is currently a member of the Manchester Township Planning Commission. She recently assisted the Cultural Alliance of York with the planning and preparation for the Pennsylvania Governor’s Awards for the Arts, and has been nominated for a board position with the York County SPCA.

Prior to coming to Penn State, Holly worked as a manager for a defense contractor and also spent five years as an active duty officer in the United States Army. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point.
