HUB-Dining Raises $2000 for the Pink Zone
In December, Starbucks at the HUB-Robeson Center put out collection cans for the Pink Zone: a local organization that teams up with Penn State Lady Lion Basketball promoting cancer awareness and empowering survivors through year-long efforts to raise funds critical in supporting vital breast cancer organizations, charities, and facilities that focus on breast cancer education, research, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment.
With a goal of $1000, a manager at Starbucks, David Senior challenged his team, “Beat the goal and I’ll shave my head.” Not only did the beat the goal, they doubled it. So on stage by fish tank at the HUB, Mimi Barash Coppersmith, one of the original promoters of Pink Zone took the first swipe.
“This is our fourth year partnering Starbucks and the Pink Zone. This is an organization very close to our hearts” said David Gingher, director of retail campus dining.
Through the end of this week Starbucks at the HUB will continue to collect monies, for a dollar donation to the Pink Zone, get a coffee for a dollar.
This Sunday the Penn State women’s basketball will continue its tradition of donning the pink uniforms for the annual Play4Kay game benefiting Pink Zone as they take on Michigan at the Bryce Jordan Center. Tipoff is at 2pm and air on the Big Ten Network.
